AGGIE MEN’S BASKETBALL VS. OREGON STATE

The Aggies saved themselves from the worst 10-game start since 2000-01 last night when they handed Oregon State its second loss ending a seven-game winning streak. This was a huge win for the Aggies and it all stemmed from effort and teamwork. Coach Buzz Williams said, “I thought it was the hardest we’ve played, and none of it was necessarily pretty to watch, but I thought the effort was outstanding.” The Aggies trailed at halftime 30-22, but made a second half comeback, outscoring the Beavers 42-19. The turning point came when Senior Guard Jay Jay Chandler threw up a three-pointer and was fouled in the process, completing a four-point play, putting the Aggies up 39-38. These 4 points were a crucial part of the  23-5 run committed by the Aggies as they did not trail behind again. The Aggies held the Beavers to 33.3% (19-of-57) from the field and only 14.3% (3-of-21) from 3-point range. Texas A&M had a total of 46 rebounds, 12 of those being offensive. Freshman Emanuel Miller led the team with 13 boards, four offensive. Josh Nebo led the team with 15 points and had a career high 8 blocks. Both Savion Flagg and Quenton Jackson added 13 points each. This win was a great Christmas gift for the Texas A&M Aggies. As they take the next few days to enjoy the holidays, they will be back to work on December 30th in search of their third win in a row when they host Texas Southern.
