AGGIE MEN’S BASKETBALL VS. OLE MISS
A comeback win against Ole Miss led the Aggies to their first SEC win of the season on Tuesday, January 7, under Coach Buzz Williams. The Aggies couldn’t get many shots to fall in the first half, shooting 26.9% (7-of-26) and missing all 10 of their 3-point attempts. The Rebels were able to take a 29-19 halftime lead orchestrated by their senior guard, Breein Tyree, who finished the first half alone with 21 points on 8-of-10 field goals including five 3-pointers. Despite the 10 point deficit they faced, whatever was said at half-time to the Texas A&M “fighting” Aggies, worked; they entered the second half fighting: a complete turn around from the first half of the game. The Aggies held the Rebels to 21.2% on 7-of-33 shooting. Wendell Mitchell helped spark the lead as he scored all 9 of his points in a crucial 18-2 run. The Aggies were also able to cool down the hot hand of Ole Miss’ Breein Tyree, holding him to only 5-points in the second half. The 57-47 electrifying win is exactly what the Aggies needed as they continue conference play and head to Vanderbilt on Saturday, January 11.
