AGGIE MEN’S BASKETBALL VS. VANDERBILT

The Texas A&M Aggies soar to their second straight conference win against Vanderbilt 69-50 on Saturday, January 11. A pair of buckets by Andre Gordon and a 3-point shot by Wendell Mitchell had the Aggies up 7-0 to start. They took a 16-point lead making it 28-12 using a 17-3 run with 8:23 left in the first half. The Aggies had their best half of offensive basketball besides their home opener against Northwestern State shooting 53.6% (15-of-28) from the field. Freshman guard Andre Gordon led the explosive first half with 11 points on 4 of 8 field goals. The Aggies led 36-20 at halftime. The outstanding play of basketball continued for the Aggies as they entered the second half. The highest lead was 31 when senior guard Mark French sank a 3 pointer to seal the game. Vanderbilt closed the game on a 22-10 run. Texas A&M held Vanderbilt to a season low in points as they only shot 30% (15-of-50) from the field. The Aggies look for a “three-peat” with a win against LSU on Tuesday night, January 14 at Reed Arena.
