A&M STUDENTS AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Former Sport Management Master’s student Lindsey LeJeune now works as the Communications Assistant for College Football Playoff. In this role she creates and oversees all of the content for the College Football Playoff’s social media platforms. This year, the National Championship game took place in Tampa, Florida where Alabama and Clemson faced off in one of the most exciting college football games to date. LeJeune brought on Morgan Strehlow (’14), Ryan Lasneske (’16), Jasmyn LeCompte (’16), and Rebekah Rabun (’17), 3 former and 1 current Sport Management Master’s students to be a part of her game week social media team. These students helped generate content from all of the championship week’s events such as concerts, media days, press conferences, and the actual game.

Each of these students found their way to Tampa, all with the Cotton Bowl as a major stepping stone. Two years ago, LeJeune was selected to go and work the Cotton Bowl with the Sport Management Division. During the week she spent there, her work, along with that of others, was noticed by the College Football Playoff, and the team was invited to work the National Championship Game the following week. The connections she made there gave her the opportunity to work not only the Fiesta Bowl in 2016, but also the National Championship Game again, and eventually led to her current position with CFP. Moreover, Strehlow worked as the Manager of Digital Media and Community Engagement at the Cotton Bowl which connected her to CFP, an event she has worked all 3 years. Lasneske, LeCompte, and Rabun also got their social media experience from working on the social media team for the Cotton Bowl when it was a CFP Semifinal game in 2015.

It is exciting to see how students are able to develop themselves professionally through the opportunities provided within the Sport Management Department. Students like LeJeune have been able to take these experiences and use them as stepping stones to their careers.
