AGGIES IN REVIEW – BY: GEORGE KOPF ’22 WEEK OF OCT. 28TH

Football dominated and picked up another SEC win, volleyball wins again, soccer maintains their success and swimming & diving looks forward to a rivalry meet all in this week’s “Aggies in Review.” Here are the details from last week’s action.

Football

The final home-stand started off with a bang, as the Aggies cruised to a 49-30 victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs (3-5, 1-4 SEC). Kellen Mond had four first-half touchdowns, two rushing and two passing, carrying the Aggies to a 28-10 halftime lead. Touchdown on both of the Aggies (5-3, 3-2) second-half possessions put this game out of reach quickly. The defense was back in full force, and did so through forcing three turnovers, including a crazy interception by sophomore Devin Morris. The Aggies look to get to bowl eligibility and their sixth win this Saturday against the UTSA Roadrunners (3-4, 2-2 C-USA) in another 11:00 AM kickoff on the SEC Network from Kyle Field.

Women’s Volleyball

After the road trip sweep, the Lady Aggies (14-5, 6-3 SEC) have put together another win, this time over Georgia, and now have a three game win streak heading into the main portion of conference play. That streak will get tested with two critical matchups this weekend, first away against #15 Kentucky (Friday at 6:00 PM), and then at home against #24 Missouri (Sunday at 2:00 PM).

Women’s Soccer

Another perfect weekend for Aggie Soccer and more goals for freshman Ally Watt, scoring six of the seven Aggie goals over the two games this weekend. The Aggies (12-3-3, 6-2-1 SEC) escaped Nashville with a 2-1 win in double-overtime, and looked to carry that momentum back home against Missouri. Momentum indeed follows success, as the Aggies were victorious, 5-3 over the Tigers under some beautiful, sunny October skies. They close the regular season on Halloween Night at home against the Ole Miss Rebels (9-5-3, 3-3-3) and look to do well at the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach, Alabama later next week.

Swimming & Diving

All eyes will be on the Rec Center Natatorium, as the Lone Star Showdown takes center stage in College Station this Friday. A top-10 shootout looks to take place between the #7 Aggie Men and the #2 Texas Longhorns. Meanwhile, the Aggie women, ranked 16th, look to contend with the fifth-ranked Texas Lady Horns.
