AGGIE MEN'S BASKETBALL VS. MISSISSIPPI STATE
In the battle of maroon, Texas A&M won its third consecutive game against Mississippi State on Saturday, February 22. The Aggies improved to 14-12 on the season and 8-6 in conference play. This win was noteworthy for Texas A&M as they hit a season-high in just about every category imaginable: Points (87), Field goal percentage (59.6), Three-point percentage (52.9), Free throw percentage (88.9), and Assists (18). The starting five of Josh Nebo, Emanuel Miller, Savion Flagg, Quenton Jackson, and Wendell Mitchell, all finished with points in double-digits. With six minutes remaining in the first half the Aggies went on a 11-0 run to close out the half 36-30, never trailing after that. Mitchell was a key component in the victory for the Aggies, as he had all of his 20 points in the second half. The Bulldogs were able to get within six, making it 68-62, when Buzz Williams called a time out to gather his team. Right out of the break, Mitchell hit a three-pointer, followed by a four-point play in the next possession from drawing a foul on a made three-pointer. These quick 7 points in 2 possessions sealed the game away with 3:55 remaining. The 87-75 victory against the Bulldogs, pushed Aggies to two games above .500 in SEC play for the first time since 2015-2016. Texas A&M look to keep the winning streak alive as they host the University of Kentucky, Tuesday, February 25, at Reed Arena.
