AGGIE MEN'S BASKETBALL VS. SOUTH CAROLINA
A strong first half of hoops for the South Carolina Gamecocks led to a series sweep against the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday, February 8. The Aggies lost 74-54 landing them in 7th place in the SEC. The beginning of the game looked great for the Aggies as they took a 9-0 run to start the game and left the Gamecocks scoreless for the first 3:55. That lead quickly diminished with the help of South Carolina’s Jermaine Couisnard and AJ Lawson who combined for a total of 37 points. Texas A&M missed 10 of its last 11 shots to allow South Carolina to go on a 24-5 run over the final 8:38 of the first half. Couisnard capped off the half with a buzzer-beating three-pointer to push the Gamecocks lead to 18 heading into halftime. South Carolina didn’t hesitate to extend their lead entering the second half, as they went on a 15-3 run in the first four minutes to put them up by 30. The Aggies finished the night on just 27.3% shooting and 20 turnovers. It wasn’t a good game for the maroon and white, but they look forward to having home-court advantage in four of the next five games. They host the University of Florida on Wednesday, February 12, at Reed Arena.
